Hello Everyone, my name is Ashley Cunningham
I am currently a student at The College of Saint Rose studying to be an elementary school teacher. My major is childhood/special education with a concentration in mathematics. I grew up in the town on Durham NY, where I graduated from Cairo-Durham high school in 2011. Directly following high school I attended SUNY Cobleskill, where I earned an associates degree in Early Childhood. After completing my Bachelor’s degree I plan to continue on with my education and obtain a Master's degree.
In my time away from school I enjoy being outside. From snowboarding, to playing tennis and going on my family's boat I enjoy outdoor activities all throughout the year. My family has had a huge influence on my now preferred activities. Every summer since I was a baby my family takes a vacation camping in the Adirondacks. We always go kayaking, fishing and hiking there each year. These family memories mean the world to me and someday I hope to develop the same with my own children.
As for the future I aim to provide developmentally appropriate education to all of my children. The purpose of education is to guide children into life while growing as individuals and reaching to achieve personal goals along the way. My goal as a teacher is to identify each child as a unique individual who needs a caring, secure and stimulating atmosphere. Education is the base of a child’s life where they begin to take steps into the adult life they are going to lead. As a professional, it is my role to assist children as they develop emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially.
